Physicist - Tell Me More

RemotePhysics.com is currently in the beta testing phase.

You may still sign up and submit resumes, however, we will not be fully functional for some time.

We will be certain to inform anyone who signs up when the system is completely ready to go.

RemotePhysics.com connects freelance physicists with clinics in need of medical physics support.

The process is simple. Sign up and fill out the entire resume form. It’s long and tedious, but it’s important to be as thorough and detailed as possible because employers will use this information to search for and screen candidates.

If an employer thinks you may be a good candidate based upon your resume, they can send you a direct message to discuss the potential position.

If you both feel the position would be a good fit, you can then negotiate the pay. Once an agreement is made, the employer will provide us some details of agreement. We’ll handle the paperwork and pay out your earnings at the agreed upon time.

That’s up to you and the employer. We can provide guidelines based upon the AAPM  Salary Survey, but the final amount is whatever you agree to accept.

Some physicists are newer and less experienced and may be willing to accept less. Others are more experienced, have less available time or perhaps possess a rarer skillset. They may require higher pay to accept a task.

Participation in the “marketplace” does not cost anything.

We do, however, collect a 5% commission on earnings from jobs found through RemotePhysics.com.

Employers are not charged anything.

We are medical physicists too, so the cost and time required to maintain and grow RemotePhysics.com in addition to our clinical jobs is very substantial.

While the fee is significantly less than what consulting groups or recruiters charge, it does help to cover some of our costs.

The only commitment is what’s negotiated between you and the hiring clinic. If you both find it acceptable to work 1 hour/wk or 100 hours/wk, we have no other requirements or commitments.

There’s no work contract with us and no minimum daily, weekly or annual time commitment.

Similarly, you may close your account on RemotePhysics.com at anytime. Please contact members@remotephysics.com if you would like all of your information purged from our system.

Are you a medical physicist, software engineer or dosimetrist?

Clinics need all different types and levels of experience. Generally, being certified will provide a significant advantage in finding work, but some clinics may hire new or uncertified physicists if their state regulations allow it.

Additionally, some clinics may require expertise not necessarily directly associated with typical medical physics knowledge. We encourage those involved in fields with medical physics-related experience to also join us (for example, dosimetrists, programmers, IT workers  or database admins).

W suggest that all physicists and clinics work together for a short “trial period”. If either of you find the situation is just not a good fit, then you can either change the terms of your agreement or split from each other entirely.

Of course, if you find working remotely is just not for you, then that’s no issue. You have no contractual agreement with us and we require no other commitments.

There are no specific requirements. We welcome new graduates, old graduates and even experts with experience in related fields like software engineering or IT.

Of course.

Many of our physicists work full-time and then provide remote support in the evenings and weekends. Some clinics prefer that, while others require a physicist be available during typical working hours.

When filling out the application/resume, it’s important to very specifically describe your availability.

Great, then only accept offers of that specific type.

You are under no obligation to agree to any task or job. What you do is entirely your choice.

If you’re interested in potential remote medical physics work, this is the easiest way to find it. We’ve found many physicists sign up for the extra money or just because they prefer not going into the office every day.

You’re in control of the entire process – work when you want, in whatever area you like, for whatever price you want.

We will try to not allow your employer to see your resume, but we cannot guarantee they won’t see it. Before a clinic is granted access to view resumes, we’ll manually search the database of physicists to attempt to see if anyone is employed by that clinic.

This process, however, is not fool proof and you should not count on it if you’re contractually prohibited from seeking freelance work.

We strongly suggest complying with the terms of your primary employment agreement.

We encourage you to utilize those services too. RemotePhysics.com, however, differs from these other groups in multiple ways:
  1. RemotePhysics.com was developed by medical physicists specifically for medical physicists and clinics looking for remote work/workers.
  2. Staffing firms generally focus on in-office, not remote jobs.
  3. Staffing firms typically charge their clinic clients very high fees to find qualified physicists. RemotePhysics.com cuts out the middleman, connecting physicists and clinics directly. This provides a significant financial benefit for both you and the clinic..
  4. Staffing firms are able to view resumes on RemotePhysics.com.If they have an open position, they are invited to reach out to qualified physicists on the site.
  5. If it’s beneficial, we encourage you to also utilize jobs websites. They generally serve a different need than RemotePhysics.com.

Sorry. We genuinely apologize for the fact the resume form is so long and tedious. The goal, however, is to allow hiring clinics to more quickly and easily identify physicists that best meet their needs. The more descriptive and accurate you fill out your resume information, the more likely you’ll be contacted by a hiring clinic.

Fill out the entire resume form on the website. And incomplete resume is much less likely to attract attention

That’s excellent! Congratulations!

We require nothing of you, but ask the employer to pay us the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary for you one year. That’s the only cost to them or you.

Sure, but our team of hired goons will hunt you down and make you regret it for the rest of your life.

Nah, we’d never do anything like that, but when signing up to use our service you agree to the terms and conditions that explicitly state this is not allowed.

If anything comes up, just talk to us about it. We’re all medical physicists ourselves and we’re all very fair and reasonable.
